Dr. Cynthia Lee has been in practice since completing her general surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center in 1999. While caring for patients with general surgical issues, she has particular interests in breast cancer, advanced laparoscopic procedures, and colon surgery. She currently serves as the Vice-Chief of the Department of Surgery, as well as the Section Head for General Surgery, for Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset.
She is actively involved in cancer care at the Steeplechase Cancer Center at RWJUH Somerset. As a way to help others, she developed the Steeplechase Distance Run, a 5K and 10K event, which is a major fundraiser for free educational programs offered to patients and their families at the cancer center. She also sits on the professional advisory board of the Cancer Support Community of Central New Jersey, which partners with the cancer center to provide educational programs as well.
In her spare time, Dr. Lee enjoys running, mountain biking, whitewater kayaking, and watching live music. She feels that exercise for enjoyment is key to a good quality of life and routinely advises her patients to "get out."
