William Sugarmann, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general and robotic surgeon providing high-quality surgical care to adults living in and around Somerville, New Jersey.
Dr. Sugarmann earned his undergraduate degree from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He then enrolled at the UConn School of Dental Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut (formerly the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Dentistry), obtaining his medical degree.
Before entering private practice, Dr. Sugarmann completed a five-year general surgery residency at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey. There, he received training in a wide range of operative techniques, including advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgeries.
Dr. Sugarmann takes a minimally invasive and patient-centric approach to medicine. He strives to provide a comfortable and welcoming experience that puts individuals and their families at ease.
When he isn’t performing surgery or developing treatment plans, Dr. Sugarmann serves as the Chairman of Surgery at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) Somerset. He’s also a member of the Advisory Board of Trustees.
Dr. Sugarmann is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He also holds membership in several professional organizations, including the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the American Society of General Surgeons, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the American Hernia Society, the American Medical Association, the Somerset County Medical Society, and the Medical Society of New Jersey.
